STUBAIER ALPS - 2003
In the early afternoon we reach the small
village Gschnitz which is located in the east part of the Stubaier Alps.
The weather forecast is good. Lots of sun, and another heat wave.
Hopefully we don't suffer too much from the heat. Since the largest part
of the trail will be above 2000 m. we do not expect problems with the
heat.
It's only a 2,5 hour walk to
the Tribulaunhaus, during which we have to climb about 800 meters. Pretty
heavy after a 12 hour drive with air-conditioning blasting continuously.
The Tribulaunhaus was rebuild not very long ago because it was destroyed
by an avalanche. It's not an AV-cabin, but it belongs to the Naturfreunde.
The cabin is located on a
beautiful spot with fascinating views on the Tribulaungruppe. Not many
hikers spend the night here, because the cabin is not part of the official
'Stubaier Höhenweg'. It is part of the Gschnitztaler Rundtour though, but
not many hikers seem to walk that route.
A few hikers will climb the
Pfirscher Tribulaun next day, a few will return to Gschnitz and it seems
we are the only guys going to the Bremer Hütte. |
