The day
starts with a clear blue sky. Our breakfast consists of dry slices of bread,
marmalade, tasteless cheese and undeterminable pieces of meat:
Hüttenfrühstück, the breakfast for the following days …
Before
we leave we take a few pictures of the Formarin See with the Rote Wand. An
impressive combination. After an hour we cross the Steinernes Meer. An
interesting sea of smooth rocks. The climb to the Gehrengrat is not
difficult, only one steep passage. On the Gehrengrat we enjoy the view.
Especially the Verwall mountains are good visible and we try to find Krächl
near the Kaltenberg that we plan to cross in a few days.
The
descent to the Spuller See is hot. Good thing that we don’t have to climb
any more … we think … The last part from Spuller See to Ravensburger Hütte
we have to climb and the sun is very hot today.
The
people from the Ravensburger Hütte are very friendly, their food and service
are excellent and we get a very nice room. They also have the best showers I
have ever seen in a mountain cabin. 5 minutes ! A record ! One small
disadvantage is the fact that the Ravensburger Hütte is surrounded by a few
hundred cows. At least that is what it sounds like at night. |
